Five Asian Marriage Customs

Asian weddings have a rich history of long-standing customs. These traditions are meant to honor family and observe one’s authenticity, whether it be the baraat in India, the gate-crashing activities at Chinese celebrations, or the exchanging of red letters at Vietnamese marriages.

Even though some of these customs may have been lost to contemporary society, they are however important to uphold. In this article, we look at five of our favorite Asian wedding meeting customs that should be celebrated.

Chinese traditions for weddings

Many of the most precious Chinese marriage ceremonies involve opportune symbols like creatures, phoenixes and mandarin birds as they are seen as signs of good luck. Any Chinese wedding should include the Double Happiness symbol, which combines two similar Chinese characters that stand for joy and represents enjoyment and fealty. As a indicator of prosperity, it was customarily hung on the wall of the child’s house and kept there for three nights.

Another crucial component of any Chinese wedding is the drink service, which honors the relatives. The bride and groom serve drink to each of their families while kneeling on teas cushions during the meeting. According to their rank, each older comparative is fully introduced by label and given a surprise. The handful also receives presents from their visitors in the form of new ba, or dark envelopes.

It’s important to keep in mind that each society has its own beliefs, even though some of these rituals might appear a little strange. Therefore, instead than homogenizing each of these ethnicities, we really adopt the diversity that each represents.
